Episode 21 -- Do The Rock Dance, Paul!

This here Episode 21 turned into a good, old-fashioned podcast exchange between the Friends of the Show and our good friends (wait for it...of the show) at the Weekly Dictator.

John sat down for a long overdue podcast with longtime friends of the show Josh Grimmer and Aurora Nibley.  They haven't met in person for almost three years, so this show covered a lot of ground.  In the event that you can't get enough, John also guested on Episode 102 of The Weekly Dictator, along with friend of the show Nate Hoyt.

Enjoy!

Episode 20 - Hit Me Again Ricky, I'm HOT!

On Episode 20, John and Bryan take a walk down memory lane to a faraway time.  On September 28, Bryan and Glenn Geiler were not yet married in spectacular fashion.  On September 28, the world did not yet know Michael Theodore Bussiere.  On September 28, the Boston Red Sox were not American League Champions.

Despite all of that, there was a lot to talk about way back then.  On the return trip from visiting Friends of the Show Brian and Holly Feltes, John and Bryan break down his bachelor party activities while cruising up Route 95.

There was plenty of time in the car, so there were plenty of tangents in the conversation.  Also, the sound quality is total crap because of A) no headsets and B) moving car.  But still....a good time for everyone.

Enjoy!

Episode 19 - Hurricane Radio Revisited, Part II

John and Bryan somehow managed to spend another full two hours breaking down the final episode of The Eye of the Storm, which was only a two hour show to begin with.

This episode includes three guest calls from Friends of the Show Chris Blake, James Cabral (!), and Josh Grimmer.

We talk about what was, and we talk about what will be.  Time to turn this page forever, folks.  This website is the name of the game now...so put it to good use!

Episode 18 - Hurricane Radio Revisited, Part I

Labor Day 2011 marked the end of the road for this podcast's predecessor, The Eye of the Storm, a daily morning show on the late HurricaneRadio.net.

With the anniversary upon us, John and Bryan Geiler sat down to review the memorable-if-odd journey that the show became.  This is the first of two parts.

They also discuss the all-new FriendsoftheShow.com, and tell the truth: your interactivity with the site is pivotal to the future of the podcast.

Talk to us!

Episode 17 - Podcast of Northern Aggression

Episode 17 marks the long overdue debut of Friend of the Show Charles Condro to the podcast. Charles was the mastermind behind the @harborhawks in-game tweets this season, among many other things.

Longtime Friend of the Show Darin Weeks joined us by phone from Cooperstown, where his son was playing in a baseball tournament. Both of these guys are huge Civil War buffs, and so they talk it up for a good 40 minutes until Darin departs.

Around the 45 minute mark, I start talking again, one-on-one with Charles. We cover what his summer was like on the Cape. Most importantly, he gives the Friends of the Show Podcast a ringing endorsement.

Episode 16 - Crashed by...well, somebody

On a rare Harbor Hawk off day, Friends of the Show Dylan Vazzano and Nick Johnson took a busman's holiday to the McKeon Park press box to tape Episode 16.

This one's less baseball than it is life in the Cape League.  You'll learn all about The 'Quois, Card Roulette, and coming in hot.  Don't miss it.

Episode 15 - Crashed by the Coach

After a needlessly long hiatus, the Friends of the Show Podcast gloriously returned to our series of tubes in June of 2013 upon the return of the Hyannis Harbor Hawk broadcasters.

In 2012, devoted listeners got their first taste of Friends of the Show Dylan Vazzano and Nick Johnson.  On this episode, you finally meet the mysterious third member of the broadcast crew: Friend of the Show D.J. Jamiel.

Eventually, Friend of the Show Chad Gassman crashes the taping, and then the real fun begins.

Episode 14 - Texas-sized Hot Stove

One of my all-time favorite Friends of the Show is Chris Blake, who was my broadcast partner from the Hyannis Mets from 2007-2009.  He'd called into a prior episode, but this was our first time doing a whole show as a duo.  Needless to say, it has to happen again.

Mirth and folderol below.

Episode 13 - Belated Thanksgiving Megapod!

It wouldn't be Thanksgiving Weekend unless I had a hand in mocking Black Friday somehow.  Well, I guess it would, if it were any year except 2010 and 2012.  But still...

Friend of the Show Bryan Geiler was back in the saddle as we sat down in Hyannis in the immediate aftermath of the Great Buttfumble of 2012.  Enjoy.

Episode 12 - Labor Day Weekend on Cape

Remember the hilarity that was the 2012 Jets?  This episode with Friend of the Show Bryan Geiler was the calm before the storm.

After that, we dealt with the similar disaster that was the 2012 Red Sox, including a studio appearance from since-fired skipper Bobby Valentine.

Episode 11 - The Nick Exit Interview

Anyone familiar with Cape League baseball knows that the ending is always extremely abrupt.  Players, coaches, and interns alike all scatter very quickly after the final out.

Gloriously, Friend of the Show Nick Johnson is the exception to the rule.  He hung on Cape for most of August, affording me the opportunity to sit down with him after the end of the 2012 Cape League campaign for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks.

Episode 10 - Sunday at Bryan's

Sometimes, world events simply demand that Bryan and I talk with the tapes rolling.  This was one of those times.  I did not have my equipment with me, but there was serious complaining about the Red Sox and criticism of 38 Studios (remember that?) that needed to be done.

Apologies in advance for the relatively garbage audio quality, but hey, it's Bryan, and that's never a bad thing.

Episode 9 - Dylan and Nick from McKeon

In June of 2012, Dylan Vazzano and Nick Johnson made their long-overdue debut to my loyal audience.  Seriously, how they never appeared on any of my fake radio shows from the infamous summer of 2011 is beyond me.

These two have been lifelong friends, they love baseball, and they are quite different from the other guests you're accustomed to hearing on my stuff.  This one was just a scream, so make sure you listen.

Episode 8 - Big Three Postmortem

Get 'em while they're hot!  As more podcasts roll out, older ones like this one will disappear to ensure that the Friends of the Show Podcast can stay on its lavish $5/month budget.

Stalwart guest Bryan Geiler and I sat down shortly after the 2012 NBA Eastern Conference Finals saddened by the result, but heartened by the run.  Bryan's appearances always make for great shows, so  give it a click!

Episode 7 - Back to Mom's Basement

At long last, I'm breathing life into friendsoftheshow.com!

In an effort to beef up the content offerings in a hurry, I'll be tossing up each presently archived show as its own post. The budget for this podcast is extremely limited, so Episode 7 is on the chopping block; when the next new episode gets uploaded, this one will be dumped to free up space.  You know, like your DVR, but way more annoying.

For whatever reason, this episode refused to upload itself in one piece, so it'll be presented to you in two parts.  With this in mind, let's fire up the time machine to May of 2012...
